The Centre for Research & Innovation in Care Sciences consists of an Institute and six research units.
Care Sciences Research Unit (CSRU)
The Care Sciences Research Unit incorporates several sub-themes which include Developments in acute care; Enduring health needs; and Family Care.
Unit for Development in Intellectual Disability (UDID)
UDID’s mission is to enhance quality of life and quality of service provision for people with intellectual disabilities and their families and carers via an integrated programme of research, education and practice development.
Genomics Policy Unit (GPU)
The GPU aims that through the generation of new knowledge, and through the application of that knowledge to policy developments in health, social care and education, it will make a significant contribution to professional preparation, public education, and ultimately to care improvement.
Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care
Founded in 1995 the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care (WIHSC) is a major contributor to the re-design of health and social care. Through research, consultancy, publication and teaching WIHSC brings together the academic community and service practitioners, locally and nationally.
Clinical Technology & Diagnostics Research Unit
This group collaborates with a range of small to medium size businesses, elite sports-persons, patients and other academics to aid in development of tools which can help clinical diagnosis or help reduce the environmental impact on current conditions.
